The personal data I collect

 

Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).

I do not collect any Special Categories of Personal Data about you (this includes details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sex life, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership, information about your health and genetic and biometric data). Nor do I collect any information about criminal convictions and offences via this website.

I only collect personal data from you which you supply directly to me or via my website.

I will only process the data you provide to me to fulfil the agreement we have entered into, i.e. the provision of legal services or online training.  Thereafter, I will only process your data if I have a legitimate interest in doing so.

It also uses Google Analytics, which helps us to maintain and develop the website to enhance the user experience and to monitor which pages are most popular. Again, this is all done anonymously.

How long will you use my personal data for?

If you become a client, I will retain your data for a period of 6 years for tax and accounting reasons. Otherwise, I will only retain your data for a period of 12 months.

I respond to all legitimate requests within one month from the date of receipt. However, it may take me longer than a month if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests, in which case, I will notify you and keep you updated.

 

Complaints

 

You have the right to make a complaint at any time to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues (www.ico.org.uk). However, I would like to try and resolve any complaint before you engage the ICO, so please speak to me first and hopefully I can fully address any concerns you may have.
